Adilabad Student Wins Robotics Contest. It was a battle of wits when 80 students from across the country fought it out with their robots on the finale of Robokid 2014 held at the BM Birla science center, Hyderabad, on June 8.

It was a battle of wits when 80 students from across the country fought it out with their robots on the finale of Robokid 2014 held at the BM Birla science center, Hyderabad, on June 8.

Salman Ansari from St Joseph’s Convent, Adilabad, emerged the winner and the team from Jubilee Public School, Hyderabad, was the runners up. The winner, Salman Ansari, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15, 000 along with a research robot kit. His school was gifted with a Robolab worth Rs 4 lakh to the school. Runner-ups and other well performing teams were also awarded prizes in various categories by Jay Robotix, the organiser of the contest.

The finale participants had to clear three levels of elimination to be selected for the winning round. In the first two levels, students had to submit programming codes for the robot and design maps for navigation. In the third level, the kids raced their robots on a life-size arena/ maize and got their robots to pick up garbage and plant trees.

The pre-programmed robots had to complete the circuit with all the tasks in the shortest time to win the competition.
