Despite, a number of programmes by successive governments, the western mandals of Chittoor district lag behind in higher education, employment opportunities, literacy rate, etc. Technically qualified people of this area are compelled to migrate to metros like Bengaluru and Chennai in search of greener pastures. Motivated by the socio-economic conditions of this drought-prone area, M Ravindra Babu, an entrepreneur with a passion for higher education, thought Palamaner was an ideal place to have a centre for learning in different spheres. As a result, several educational institutions under the banner of Holy Cross Educational Society were established. Here, at Mother Theresa Institutions, which is five kilometres from Palamaner town, a holistic approach is adopted towards education by imparting character-building and value-based education with focus on a scientific temper and state-of-the-art technologies.
