Hyderabad: As many as 46,473 students have qualified in the Osmania University Common Entrance Test (OUCET). The results of the test were released by Osmania University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. S Satyanarayana here on Tuesday.
Around 66,071 candidates appeared for the entrance tests, a total of 46,473 students have qualified registering a pass percentage of 70.76 per cent this year.
Speaking to the media, Prof. S Satyanarayana urged the government to start new colleges for streams like MEd, M Com, mathematics and MSW as there is more demand among the students.
Prof. Satyanarayana stated that demand for courses in OU has also increased among the students from rural background.
Last year, the number of students appeared for the test were 66,508 of which 50,913 qualified with a pass percentage of 76.55 per cent.
This time, boys have outshined girls in the results. Of 42,139 boys who appeared in the examinations, 30,586 qualified the exams with pass rate of 72.58 per cent. A total of 23,932 girls appeared of which 16,167 qualified with pass percentage of 67.55 per cent.
The subject wise ranks of candidates are available on www.osmania.ac.in and www.ouadmissions. OU VC made it clear that rank cards won’t be sent to the candidates and instead they can download them from the OU websites.
The university officials stated that the students have to take two add-on courses from this year.The officials said that counselling will be held at directorate of admissions, in the first week of July and the will be issued in a couple of days.
