Math made easy for dyslexic kids
Dyslexia Association of Andhra Pradesh (DAAP) will host a math programme on January 11 at Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology, Narayanaguda, from 9.30 am to 5 pm. The programme will be inaugurated and conducted by JP Das, emeritus director, JP Das Developmental Disabilities Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Dyslexia Association of Andhra Pradesh (DAAP) will host a math programme on January 11 at Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology, Narayanaguda, from 9.30 am to 5 pm. The programme will be inaugurated and conducted by JP Das, emeritus director, JP Das Developmental Disabilities Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
JP Das will explain math in a simple way by postulating from his Math Module, which enables persons to teach beyond classroom. The programme will have five modules on size and number, numerosity, working memory, number line, mapping, meaning and estimating. The modules will enable children to develop mathematical reasoning.
DAAP president Manisha Gogte said, “Climbing the mountain of numbers has been mostly a difficult task for school children. Once they are able to climb, they are unable to generalise it to their day-to-day life. Math is the only subject which is inbuilt in the human brain and recent research has shown that due to instruction failure the children struggle to master the subject.”
