The post-matric and themerit-cum-means scholarshipsare already distributedthrough the DBT mode tothestudents' bank accounts."I am now keen that thepre-matric scholarshipscheme is also delivered to thebeneficiaries through the DBTmode from this year," MinorityAffairs Minister NajmaHeptulla said in her letter tothe Chief Ministers.
She also requested thestates to take necessary initiativesto ensure full Aadhaarenrolment of all minoritycommunity students so thatthe bank accounts already existingor being generatedthough the Prime Minister'sJan Dhan Yojana can beseeded through their Aadhaarnumbers.
"This will enable us to extendthe full benefit of thisscholarship also to the deservingstudents without delay andwith transparency," she said.Scholarships at the pre-matricand post-matric levels andmerit-cum-means based onesare one of the focus areas ofher ministry aimed to upliftthe lot of the minority communitiesin the country, shesaid.
The scholarship scheme,which was earlier formulatedas a collaborative scheme ofthe Centre and the states on a75:25 basis is currently a fullycentrally sponsored one,she said.
