Hyderabad: National Science Day was celebrated in GITAM University on February 28. On this occasion, in the University central facility GITAM University Science and Activity Centre (GUSAC) the students from all the Engineering branches exhibited the Hardware Models, Simulation and Prototype models. The students displayed the models through display of charts and Power Point Presentation.
The chief Guest for the function, Prof. I.V. Murali Krishna, Distinguished Fellow, DRDO stated that Students should have the attitude of innovations and should be motivated towards Research. He stated that in India, students pursuing the Post-Graduation and Doctorate are hardly less than the one percentage, of the total passed out under-graduated students. He insisted that Universities should encourage students in the regard. He was happy that the facilities in GUSAC will help the students to showcase their talents and to pursue higher studies & research.
Prof. R. Siva Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (R&D) informed the students about the different thrust areas of research in Engineering. He informed that different funding agencies in India are encouraging the students to pursue research through grants and fellowships. He stated that the GUSAC is a central facility in GITAM which encourages the students in-house to pursue research. Prof. N. Siva Prasad, Director, School of Technology advised the students to be attentive in class and spend the remaining time to pursue the research.
He gave the example of Sir C.V. Raman, Noble Laureate who can do a lot with minimum technical facility. Dr. P. Trinatha Rao, GUSAC-Convener, welcomed the gathering and informed about the different facilities available at GUSAC. He presented a detailed activities going at GUSAC. Prof. S.S.Prasada Rao, Director, HBS and Dr. I.V.Subba Reddy, Co-Convener also participated.
Cash Prizes with Certificates were distributed to the students. The Project titled, “Design and Implementation of MANET using AODV Routing Protocol” got the First Prize. The students designed a Prototype model and displayed the Exhibit. The Exhibition was open to the University students, and all the students actively participated. The Program concluded with formal Vote-of-Thanks by Ms.K.Sahithi, III YrB.Tech EEE and the proceeding of the inaugural was done by Ms. Aparna, III Yr. Integrated M.Tech, ECE.
