India’s First Long Term Business Analytics Program with a focus on Big Data Launched

The program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Himanshu Rai, Dean, MISB Bocconi with Sarita Digumarti, COO, Jigsaw Academy, Prof. Dr. Anjana Grewal, Faculty, MISB Bocconi and Prof. Dr. Raffaella Piccarreta, Faculty, Bocconi University, in attendance. Twenty six students have currently enrolled for the program, and the first in person classes started on the 21st of March.
This program is the first long term Big Data analytics program that has been designed specifically for working professionals who want to earn an international certification while continuing to work. The program aims at providing in-depth knowledge with the tools and technologies that are most sought after by the industry, like predictive modeling, data mining, Big Data analytics, marketing, operations and risk analytics, among other analytics areas.
This industry relevant curriculum prepares tomorrow’s leaders and is a unique blend of analytics and Big Data – ideal for managers of the future. The program teaches not only conventional tools, but also Big Data techniques.

After the launch of the program, Sarita Digumarti, COO, Jigsaw Academy stated that “The Bocconi Jigsaw EPBA got off to a great start over the last weekend! We have a very diverse and experienced batch of students, with a very clear focus on building and utilizing data science skills in their careers. It has been a wonderful experience interacting with and teaching such a smart and motivated bunch of people.
The participants have had a chance to really bond with one another and the faculty, over the three days of contact sessions. The infrastructure and support at the MISB campus are excellent. Overall, a fantastic start, and we are looking forward to teaching and interacting with this very engaged batch”
The key highlight of the program is that participants will be taught and mentored by renowned international faculty from SDA Bocconi and Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, as well as analytics experts from Jigsaw Academy, in a blended learning model.
Prof. Dr. Raffaella Piccarreta, Faculty, Bocconi University, said - "Teaching this new batch of EPBA students over the last few days has been an enriching experience. I taught statistics and though these sessions were quite theoretical, the participants with their enthusiasm and engaging questions, helped keep the sessions lively.”
The program involves a total of 280+ hours of training including 120 hours of in-person training to be held over six (6) three-day modules at the MISB Bocconi campus in Powai, Mumbai. In the interim, Jigsaw Academy will also conduct twenty (20) live online classes of three (3) hours each for a total of sixty (60) hours which participants can attend from their home, office, or any other convenient location using an Internet connection.
In addition to the live online and in-person classes, participants will also have access to over 100 hours of pre-recorded video lectures on data science and Big Data analytics for a period of twelve (12) months.
Gopal Bang an excited participant who has signed up for this program said “The first day at the campus was very exciting, especially meeting my batch mates who come from different backgrounds. The entire session was very well organized; the classes were structured and delivered very well.
I really love the Jigsaw Learning Center which virtually has everything we have gone through in these 3 days available for recap whenever and wherever we want it. Overall I’m happy I chose to join this course. It’s great to have the opportunity to learn and interact with faculty of such high caliber, and to be associated with an institution of such high standing.”
Upon completion of the program the participants will receive a certification in business analytics from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy, one of the top business schools in Europe. In 2014, SDA Bocconi was ranked the 8th Best European Business School by the Financial Times. Forbes also ranked SDA Bocconi the 3rd Best MBA Program in the world, outside of the US, for return on investment in 2013.
According to a Gartner report ‘Organizations are looking to Big Data to provide an enhanced experience for their customers. In 2013, investments in Big Data continued to rise, with 64% of organizations investing or planning to invest over the next year’. This only goes to state that the Big Data job market will be more potent than it ever was, and there will be unparalleled opportunities for those with Big Data analytics skills.
