Bhimavaram (West Godavari): The final year mechanical students of SRKR Engineering College have recently developed an eco-friendly solar-powered coconut husk remover. The team comprising of N Srikanth, TK Prasad, P Pratap Varma and P Pavani developed the coconut husk remover under the guidance of their faculty V Muralikrishnam Raju.

The students demonstrated the working of the machine in the presence of the head of the mechanical engineering department K Brahma Raju and other faculty members in the college premises this week. The solar-powered coconut husk remover can also be operated using an electric motor or an oil engine in the absence of adequate sunlight.

Speaking on the occasion, Brahma Raju said that the equipment would be very useful for coconut farmers of the Godavari district as the machine would help them save a considerable amount of money otherwise spent on laborers. The President of the college Sagi Prasada Raju, Secretary Sagi Atchuta Rama Raju, Chairman Gokaraju Murali Ranga Raju, Director SV Ranga Raju and Principal D Ranga Raju appreciated the students for their efforts.
