Tirupati: Having recorded a tremendous progress in the journey of reaching fifth place in 2018 SSC examinations from the 13th place for three years consecutively, Chittoor district School Education department has been in full gear to reach one of the top two positions this year. Constant efforts right from the beginning of the academic year without deviating from the goal have been intensified with examinations are just one month ahead.
The authorities in the education department have gone in for a two-pronged approach in which while focussing on the intelligent students to make them secure 10 out of 10 GPA, efforts were also on the dull students to prepare them to get a minimum pass marks and to get through the examinations. This approach has been yielding good results, according to the District Education Officer Dr K Panduranga Swamy.
Disclosing the steps being taken towards achieving the goal to The Hans India, the DEO has underlined the importance of teacher empowerment programmes, which were very crucial in making students to get minimum 35 percent marks. About 1500 teachers most of them were science and mathematics teachers have attended these orientation programmes.
From the beginning of the academic year special classes were held to the students of SSC both morning and evening times which helped the students immensely. The comprehensive “Vijaya Sadhana’ study material prepared by well experienced teachers was aimed at students to score good marks.
Even a few other districts also took the material from here. Night visit programmes being organised were aimed at academically poor students and those who were irregular in their studies, under which, the teachers visit the houses of such students during night times. Besides talking to the parents, the teachers tried to motivate the students to concentrate on studies. Practice tests were held in the months when formative assessments were not there and pre-final will be held from February 18.
A seven- hour programme was held for students on career building in which a non-governmental organisation I-Dream visited schools to empower students. Mega motivational camps being held in which two programmes were already held in Chittoor and Tirupati while two more will be held in the next couple of days at Puttur and Madanapalle.
Noted personality development expert Dr NV Warlu attended these programmes and motivated students with several examples and audio-visual presentations to face examinations with confidence. These programmes will certainly help in creating confidence among the students with which they can face the examinations with courage and achieve good results, the DEO felt.
“We have obtained regular feedback from students and analysed systematically to chalk-out strategies. We have also supplied ‘Vijaya Sadhana’ study material to Hostel students as per the requirement of Welfare department. MEOs and DyEOs have been visiting hostels to motivate students.
In the same breath regular reviews were held with Principals of Model Schools. All our efforts have been going in right direction and we hope we will definitely reach our goal”, asserted Dr Panduranga Swamy.
