Twelve whales died after they were stranded in Bunbury Harbour, on the western coast of Australia, while 10 others were rescued and herded back out to sea, media reported on Tuesday.
Twenty-two whales were trapped on Monday near a breakwater wall and its adjacent beach, for reasons yet not known, where Australian specialists and volunteers worked hard to rescue as many of them as possible, according to AAP news agency.
The last four whales to be rescued were around 40 km from the coast of Bunbury, the department of parks and wildlife of the state of Western Australia said on Tuesday.
