Heat wave grips AP, Telangana: Sunstroke claims lives, stay indoors

Due to the relentless high temperatures along with the heat wave, sunstroke deaths have increased in Telangana and AP. In the last 45 days, around 27 people suffered instant death due to sunstroke in only Adilabad district.

With the summer reaching its peak, the heat has claimed three lives in Srikakulam district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as G. Malleswara Rao, K. Appala Swamy, A Rama Murthy who suffered sunstrokes.


Due to the relentless high temperatures along with the heat wave, sunstroke deaths have increased in Telangana and AP. In the last 45 days, around 27 people suffered instant death due to sunstroke in only Adilabad district.


While the IMD sources state that the heat wave will continue, a warning has been issued for the next two days for Telangana districts, West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasam, Nellore and Guntur districts of Coastal AP


On Wednesday, the temperature scale touched 46ºC in Nizamabad and crossed 45ºC in Ramagundam with Vijayawada witnessing the highest temperature in AP at 45.4ºC.


Assistant meteorologist, IMD in Hyderabad, Narasimha Rao said that dry weather will continue till Sunday in Coastal AP and Telangana while the heat will prevail till the end of the month. Mr Rao advised that people should stay indoors between 2 pm-3pm.
