With the mercury touching almost 45 degrees Celsius, severe heat wave has claimed over 30 lives in two days in Telangana.

The people residing in the region said that the temperature was heading to unbearable limits.

"It is very hot. The skin is burning like anything. If it rains it is very good, the temperature comes down. It is very helpful for the people," said Nayan, a resident of Hyderabad.

The worst victims of the heat wave are daily wage labourers and homeless people.

Officials from the State Disaster Management Department said the government has instructed various departments to make arrangements at community levels.

"All the people working for the public have to be provided with mobile phones and their mobile numbers should be communicated to all officials, who are in the district, so that any incident that happens in a village or district, they have to take care of it," said Sadha Bhargavi, Assistant Director of State Disaster Management Department.

She also urged the people to adopt basic precautions like carrying water bottles while stepping out to fight dehydration, try to stay in shade as much as possible and also not to venture out in the noon when the temperature reaches high levels.
