Designer Anushree Reddy unveils 'Portobello: The Indian Chapter' at Lakme Fashion Week.
City’s very own designer Anushree Reddy unveiled her signature style of vintage flora fused with age-old Hyderabadi Zardozi to recreate a romantic old world charm at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014.
When Ralph Waldo Emerson said, ‘Earth laughs in flowers’, he could not have been more succinct. As a designer who has harboured a similar belief, Anushree Reddy took the age-old floral print and put a modern vintage spin on it. The creator of these nostalgic floral prints, this season Anushree added the quirky spin on her heavily embroidered garments.
Inspired by the vintage market and the myriad colours from Portobello road, the new collection is an ode to the designer's love for everything vintage and her strong Indian roots. From elements of a vintage newspaper print to additions of a measuring tape print, Anushree has covered a whole array of flirty inspirations in her latest collection. The Indian chapter of Portobello brings forth a new reign of vintage meets Indian influences.
Nargis Fakhri, the ethereal showstopper walked the ramp wearing a stunning pink vintage floral printed lehenga, paired with a sea green blouse with intricate Zardosi work on it and a cut-work dupatta.
Speaking about the exquisite collection, Nargis said, “I love the way Anushree has reinterpreted the floral print and put a modern vintage spin on it. The colours are fine and the feel is comfortable. The way she has styled me, particularly the flowy lehenga makes me feel beautiful, feminine: a modern day princess.”
The silhouettes in the collection are classic, timeless and the play on the detailing creates a niche for the classic Anushree Reddy garment.
