Vivanyas –The Ethnic Elegance, a collection of handloom silks and cottons expo, will be held from December 24 to 29 at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam, Srinagar Colony. The collection will have sarees, kurtas, kurtis, dress materials for casual and formalwear, and jewellery to complement clothes and a wide range of home linen. Weavers, designers, artisans will be displaying authentic collection of textiles from all over the country.

The collection has exotic Uppada cotton silk, Narayanpet, Venkatgiri, Mangalgiri cotton from Andhra Pradesh, woven and printed tussar from Bihar, crepe and printed silks, Ilkat cottons from Karnataka, Kanjeevaram silk and Chettinad from Tamilnadu, Chanderi and Maheshwari from Madhya Pradesh, Benarasi Jamdani and Jamawar from Uttar Pradesh, Pathani from Maharashtra, Baluchari, Daccai cottons from West Bengal, Kota silk from Rajasthan.

“Alongside weaving, Indian textiles also display the art of needlework, printing and painting. The Kantha from West Bengal, Kutch of Gujarat, Kashida of Jammu & Kashmir, Lucknowi chikan of Uttar Pradesh and an amalgam of different embroideries have grown in popularity as specialties of different regions – each is different and distinct from the other” said organiser Madhavi Naidu.
