Union Minister of State for Commerce D Purandeswari, on Monday, accused political parties of playing spoilsport by opposing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Participating in a seminar on 'Growth of State Exports and Challenges', she said that FDIs would not hamper the interests of small traders or incur any loss, as being claimed by the opposition parties. She called upon political parties not to make an issue on FDIs. If allowed, FDIs would help in improving infrastructural facilities, she informed.

Rubbishing the propaganda being spread by few political leaders that the FDIs were leading to the closure of small industries, she said it would help in providing employment opportunities. To overcome the issues related to exports, she remarked that a strategic plan by the State government would prove handy with a focus on marketing, hassle-free export regime and remunerative prices for agriculture products.

Appreciating the efforts made by the State government to give an impetus to the growth of industries, she said the State which was in fifth position now would soon occupy the first position. She informed that the Union government was ready to extend necessary cooperation and help for the State, to achieve its goal.
