chalo assemblyThe Telangana Joint Action Committee which met here on Wednesday decided to organise Chalo Assembly programme on June 14 to mount pressure on the Centre for bifurcation of the State.A According to TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, lakhs of Telangana supporters would participate in the protest which would be held in a peaceful and democratic manner.

Talking to the media after the meeting which was attended by Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP state president G Kishen Reddy and other key members, Kodandaram said TJAC would soon take up publicity campaign in ten districts for mobilizing people in big numbers for the protest.

"Door-to-door visits will be taken up to garner public support. TJAC will request the members to participate in the fight for realization of their long standing dream." Kodandaram called upon the political parties, public organizations and Telangana supporters to take this as a prestige issue and ensure that the Chalo Assembly turns out to be a mega success. He hoped that the government will not resort to strong arm methods like crackdown on the activists.

According to sources, TJAC is aiming to mobilize at least 10 lakh people for the Chalo Assembly protest. However, in case of any eventuality like 'repressive tactics by police,' at least one lakh people should be prepared to carry on with the agitation, KCR is learnt to have told the meeting.

The TRS chief observed that the onus was on political parties -- mainly TRS, BJP and CPI (ML New Democracy) to ensure the success of Chalo Assembly programme. KCR also said that Telangana slogan should be heard in all jails across the region in case of crackdown by the government.
