Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (NDA) alliance have made a plethora of promises like free set-top boxes, round the clock WiFi network for gadget freaks, piped gas supply for domestic needs and fifty flyovers at main junctions in their manifesto for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. Calling it as a vision document, the alliance partners on Sunday released the common election manifesto which spoke of “holistic development” of Greater Hyderabad in the next five years if voted to power.

Trying to woo the weaker sections, the two parties included the issue of houses for urban poor and free water connections to every household, improve drainage system and enhance the public transport system, provide loans to women and youth under self-employment scheme, free parking facility at all government hospitals, set up mobile hospital in all 150 division and supply of free medicines through them, special teams to protect women from chain snatchers and eve-teasers.

Addressing the media, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya said the transparency, accountability and development would be the prime motto of BJP-TDP alliance. He said Hyderabad was a mini India and had become an epicentre for international terrorism, which was evident through the recent National Investigation Agency (NIA) reports. Some anti-national parties had been instigating the youth in a peaceful city like Hyderabad, he added.

Dattatreya alleged that the TRS had joined hands with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), which has been blocking the development of Hyderabad since 20 years. He further stated that it was merely impossible for the State government to implement the welfare schemes and developmental activities without the Centre’s help. He also challenged Telangana State government to release a white paper on all developmental activities during the past 19 months.

The BJP and TDP leaders urged the people to elect them considering their past record in developing the city. They claimed that their alliance had initiated the developmental process in Hyderabad and succeeded in various developmental activities including constructing Hi-Tech city, flyovers, MMTS, metro rail proposal, initiating the process of bringing Krishna and Godavari water to city. The TDP and BJP leaders assured citizens that they would stand by every promise which was included in the manifesto and implement them without fail.

The leaders said they would seek the Centre’s help in making Hyderabad not only a world class city but also happy city. The TDP and BJP leaders also promised to make GHMC a corruption free municipal body by digitalising the records and simplifying the online application and payment process. Leader including BJP State president G Kishan Reddy, MLC N Ramchander Rao, TDP state president L Ramana, Ravula Chandrasekhar, TDP legislative floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao and others were present at the manifesto release.
