While the party senior leader Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, who has been aspiring for the Vijayawada Central Assembly seat fought a tough battle with the leadership against the alliance with the BJP and finally won. The party had shifted the BJP from the Central constituency to the West. The BJP now started a look out for the candidate and is said to have invited the sitting Congress MLA Vellampalli Srinivas. The MLA is holding a meeting with his supporters and is likely to join the BJP on Monday.
Meanwhile, the TD minority leaders from the Vijayawada West segment have raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership for changing the alliance and giving the Muslim-dominated segment to the BJP. The supporters of the party senior leaders, K Nagul Meera and Buddha Venkanna, who have set their eyes on the seat, are the disappointed lot with the party’s latest decision. There is stiff resistance in the party against shifting the BJP to the West Constituency. On his part, the party’s aspirant for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency, Kesineni Srinivas, who is currently camping in Hyderabad, found fault with the party succumbing to the outside pressures and deny ticket to him. The party has reportedly decided to field business tycoon, Potluri Vara Prasad, for the seat. PVP was the YSR Congress candidate till the last month and tried his luck in TD. As he could not get an assurance initially from Chandrababu Naidu, PVP is said to have prompted hero Pawan Kalyan to launch Jana Sena and extend support to the BJP.
Now that Pawan Kalyan is set to campaign for the BJP and TD, it is said that PVP had prevailed upon the hero to get the TD Vijayawada seat for him. Succumbing to the pressures, the TD chief had reportedly allocated the seat to PVP and asked Kesineni to move to Penamaluru or Vijayawada East constituencies. Anticipating trouble for him, Kesineni Srinivas reacted sharply and leveled several charges against PVP. He said that PVP is a known scamster and Interpol is on the lookout for him. “We have been accusing Y S Jaganmohan Reddy of a big scamster. Now, if TD fields PVP, what answer we have to the people,” Kesineni told media persons asserting that he would contest the LS seat.
