T future in your hands, KCR exhorts people

  • Urges voters to elect the TRS for rapid reconstruction of new State
  • Says he will ensure fluoride-free water in entire Nalgonda district
  • Up to Rs 7,000 crore will be allocated for the purpose
  • Promises all-round welfare of all sections of society

Hyderabad: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday gave a detailed explanation as to why people should not waver while exercising their franchise and how different and important this election was for the future of the new state of Telangana that would come into existence after June 2. Addressing a huge meeting in Nalgonda, Rao promised that his government would fulfill every single promise it had made in its manifesto. He said the TRS would ensure drinking water to every village in the fluoride-affected Nalgonda district. He said they had worked out a plan to allocate about Rs 6,000-7000 crore for the purpose. Rao assured that that he would personally monitor this project and see that it was not left half way through.

This was the second public meeting arranged by the party after TRS sounded the poll bugle from Karimnagar on Sunday. He promised to complete the long-pending Jurala-Pakala project to overcome fluoride problem plaguing the project since decades and SLBC project. The justified share of water from Nagarjuna Sagar left canal will be taken for irrigation purposes in Nalgonda district, he said.

He slammed Congress ministers from the district for neglecting the severe fluoride problem despite warnings from World Health Organization that the district would turn into ‘no man’s zone’ if remedial measures were not taken.

“What these ministers – some of whom have been in office for 17-18 years in their political career – have done to address this problem. Is the post of CM, or minister or MP or MLA only for decorative purpose or for serving the people’s needs?” he asked.

According to Rao, as the separate State was being formed, there were a lot many issues like river water, distribution of employees etc. which need to be settled after elections. There would be no use of electing Congress and Telugu Desam governments since they are ‘agents’ of the Andhra sections. Only TRS will fight for safeguarding interests of Telangana people, he stressed.

Reacting to the comments made by TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Rao warned him not to cross his limits. Ponnala said, “Ravan cannot become Ram by changing his color. But let me tell him that Ponnala cannot become a KCR in his lifetime.”

Even TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu were not spared. They formed an unholy alliance to win 20 seats in Telangana and thus affect the chances of TRS forming government. The alliance was effected despite stiff opposition from Telangana BJP unit, he pointed out.

The TRS chief made a slew of promises to set up NIMS-like hospital in each district, central government scales for state government employees, regularization of contract employees, promotion of green house cultivation on a large-scale, 12 percent reservation for minorities and STs.

Rao said that his dream was to transform each farmer in Telangana into a millionaire. TRS had drawn several plans for their welfare, including undertaking of soil tests by the government in all districts.

He appealed to the voters in Nalgonda district to ensure victory for party candidates for all MLA and MP segments in district.

“If Uttam Kumar Reddy (Congress) is alleging that TRS has fielded Shankaramma, mother of T martyr Venugopalachari, from a weak segment, let him withdraw from the fight and ensure her victory,” he thus taunted the Congress leader. Rao said that Venugopalachari breathed life into T movement with his sacrifice and hence his mother would be elected by people of the region in any of the 119 segments.
