Kadapa: Close Contest Likely in Jammalamadugu, The ensuing election to Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency is going to witness a big fight between the YSR Congress and TDP parties.
Jammalamadugu (Kadapa): The ensuing election to Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency is going to witness a big fight between the YSR Congress and TDP parties. While the TDP has fielded senior leader P Ramasubba Reddy, former MLA Adinarayana Reddy is contesting from the YSRCP.
Jammalamadugu has been a sensitive constituency and is known for its faction feuds. It is also known as a place where bombs are manufactured. The constituency has witnessed several clashes and attacks during the past few decades. There has been political rivalry between the families of Ponnapureddy and Chadipiralla (Devagudi) in the constituency. Ever since its inception, the TDP has had a strong hold on the constituency. It has won 5 times in the constituency. However, with the commencement of YSR’s regime in the State, fortunes have changed and the Congress has won the last two elections. C Adinarayana Reddy of the Congress party has tasted victory in 2004 and 2009. Ponnapureddy Ramasubba Reddy, who had earlier served as minister in TDP rule, lost the last two elections in Jammalamadugu.
However, this time the TDP is focussing on corruption issue in its campaign, and pointing out that graft has hampered development in the Assembly segment. The TDP leaders contend that if the people vote to YSRCP, then its party leaders would loot the State’s wealth. They state that the TDP is committed to rooting out corruption and ensuring that there are no hurdles to growth.
The TDP leaders are also promising that if people voted for their party, then they would speed up the developmental process in the constituency. The TDP promised to waive loans of DWCRA groups and farmers, and implement a host of welfare schemes. TDP MLA nominee Ramasubba Reddy was successful in bringing party President Chandrababu for campaign meeting in the segment and making it a huge success.
Not lagging behind, the YSRCP launched a strong campaign. The YSRCP leaders state that development of the constituency and the State is possible only if Y S Jaganmohan Reddy becomes the Chief Minister of AP. Only Jagan could revive growth in the Assembly segment. Party nominee Adinarayana Reddy pointed out during his campaign that Jagan would ensure commencement of work of Brahmani Steels which would provide employment to unemployed youth. The YSRCP leaders contend that if the TDP came to power, it would stall the project and the constituency would witness no development. The YSRCP activists also point out that as Jammalamadugu falls in the native district of party president and CM nominee Jaganmohan Reddy, only he can guide the constituency in the path of progress. They assured that Gandikota project works would be completed and water would be provided for irrigation purposes. Party nominee Adinarayana Reddy has organised road shows of Y S Jagan and Sharmila in the constituency and ensured their success.
