Hyderabad: In the general elections that have been taking place in India, after the completion of 7 phases of elections out of the total 9 phases, at an average the poll percentage stood at 66.2% in the entire nation. The main reason for such a heavy percentage of poll turnouts is the participation of the youth and women in large numbers in these elections.
The record as of today is 64% in India for the high poll percentages in the nation. This happened in the polls held just after the assassination of late Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, in 1984-85. After that never the poll percentage exceeded more than 60. But, if the same leaning continues in the remaining two phases of elections as well, for sure, a new record will be set in India for the highest poll percentage.
