Hyderabad: With the Congress high command making it clear that the anti-AP bifurcation resolution passed by the State Assembly would not have any impact on the process of the formation of Telangana State, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has decided to lead a delegation to New Delhi on Monday to call on President Pranab Mukherjee and plead with him to impress upon the Centre not to introduce the Telangana Bill in Parliament. He is also likely to sit on a silent protest at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday.
According to Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, the Seemandhra MLAs and leaders want to try all possible methods to see that the Bill does not go to the upcoming Parliament session starting from February 5.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said that the Seemandhra leaders had worked out a detailed action plan to put pressure on the Centre to see that the Bill did not come before Parliament. It is also learnt that the Chief Minister's camp is also exploring options to challenge the Telangana Bill legally.
"We are consulting legal luminaries on when and how to challenge the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh. As the Assembly has rejected the Telangana Bill, now we have found a firm ground to legally challenge the Centre's decision. However, challenging the Centre's decision in court will be our ultimate step,” a leader close to Kiran Reddy said.
On the other hand, Telangana Congress leaders including ministers from the region also decided to go to Delhi on Monday to counter the moves of the Seemandhra leaders, Minister DK Aruna and Chief whip G Venkataramana Reddy said. Meanwhile, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao along with some T MLAs left for New Delhi. Rao, on Thursday, said that he was going to Delhi from Andhra Pradesh and would return to Telangana state.
