Facilities to be upgraded at Chanchalguda Women’s Jail

“Chanchalguda Women’s Jail needs to be improved,” said Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, during his inspection of the Malakpet ward on Tuesday. He also pointed out the need for comprehensive road repair and widening works around the jail’s vicinity.

The civic chief also visited the New Malakpet basketball site, where the GHMC had proposed an indoor stadium at a budget of Rs 6 crore. But, the works are at a standstill due to litigation over a piece of land. He also instructed the officials to take up an innovative scheme for the construction of an underground stadium with a walking track in the area. Somesh Kumar then visited Mahbub Gunj and inspected the heritage site.

He asked the engineering wing to prepare estimates for fencing the total area with a chain link mesh and other repair works. He asked for the estimates to be prepared within the next 15 days. Apart from that, he also ordered for a watchman to be employed to safeguard the property.
