The city is known for its distinct landscape. The Old City projects a proud picture of its own and is a symbol of the heritage in the city. The walled city on the other side of the Musi is not just a popular tourist attraction but also houses many eating joints, some which had been established since the time of the Nizams. We list out a few of the popular places to satiate the foodie in you.

Moazzamjahi Market

The Moazzamjahi Market is not just a fruit market, but a hangout place for a lot of enthusiasts from the city and the Old City who come to Abids for shopping. There are four ice cream parlours inside the market which is brimming with people in the evening. The oldest of them is the Famous Ice Cream parlour which is 60 years old. It serves a wide range of quality ice creams. At least 300 people visit the place every day. It is open from 5pm to 11pm.

Ramsingh Chat
Late evenings are a busy time at Ramsingh chat shop in Siddiambar Bazaar near Afzal Gunj. The legacy of Ramsingh chat dates back to 80 years from the times of Nizams. The best dishes of the place are aloo cutlets, samosa chat, bhel puri, ragada papadi and gulab jamun. The menu also includes pav bhaji, dahi vadas, papdi chat and pani puri. Except for pav bhaji, Ramsingh’s chats are free of onion, garlic and tomatoes, to cater to the predominant Rajasthani, Gujarati and Jain communities of the area. Close to 400 people stop at the chat shop to have a quick snack.
Nimrah Café
The very famous Nimrah Café which is open from early in the morning to late in the night is a great eat out spot for young and old people of the Old City who discuss and chat over a cup of Irani Chai and Osmania biscuits anytime. More than 500 people visit the café every day.
Pista House
Pista House which is very famous for Haleem is a huge bakery and eating joint located at Shah Ali Banda and serves a variety of food items from normal snacks, sweets, pastries and baked items. It’s a food joint especially for families.
Delhi Mithai Vatika
The Delhi Mithai Vatika at Shah Ali Banda is a sweet shop cum chat bhandar which has become a hangout spot recently for the school and college going students in and around the areas of Lal Darwaza, Moghulpura and Gowlipura.
Rose Co Bakery
Established in 1957 and located at Chaderghat, Rose Bakery is one of the oldest and huge bakeries in the Old City. It is a big hangout place for the college students and families. It was the first bakery to introduce Osmania biscuits. They are high class bakers and confectionaries and sell the best long bread used to make Dabal ka meetha.
Coffee Day
In a place like Charminar where there is no branded restaurant, the Café Coffee Day is a huge relief for the youngsters and tourists who come to have quality food and sip yummy coffee after a whole day of shopping on the streets of Chudi Bazaar, Pathergatti and Madina.
