eVans To Drive Out Unemployment. Keeping unemployment in view, the GHMC has come out with an innovative scheme called eVAN.
Keeping unemployment in view, the GHMC has come out with an innovative scheme called eVAN. The van would visit all the slums in the city to register names of educated and qualified youth. The list would be handed over to TMI, an HR firm, which will provide employment.
As employment is one of the biggest challenges faced by the Telangana youth, employment van or eVan, a mobile vehicle which would be equipped with all the resources required to register candidates and provide necessary information on jobs, was launched by Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain at Malkajgiri on Saturday.
He said that a single missed call to 040-710 120 14 would register the name of the caller and the concerned youth would receive a call from the GHMC on working days and thus pursue employment and job opportunities.
“The GHMC is the only corporation in the entire nation to provide unique scheme called eVAN (Employment Van) to provide jobs to the unemployed youth,” he added. The GHMC has taken up this scheme to provide employment for 12,000 youth.
Highlighting the methodology of the van, Commissioner Somesh Kumar said, “The eVAN is a window for employment opportunities and job information. It would go to every slum and youth, who are qualified would get the opportunity to register their names in the eVAN. The van is well equipped with modern computers and latest technology. They can also register the names on phones.”
Registration would be carried out by the eVAN and then the GHMC and TMI, an HR firm, would collect all the details with regard to qualification and experience and would assess them to provide jobs as per their qualification. “One eVAN will not be sufficient. We have to take up at least 10 eVANS to go round the entire city,” he concluded.
