Google has been flaunting about the prospect of YouTube videos becoming accessible offline and now it's finally here in India. Ours is a country with limited internet penetration which is fairly inconsistent, so with offline view option, many smartphone users won't have to rely on varied connectivity sources like; 2G, 3G or Wi-Fi.

The idea behind offering offline-mode feature on YouTube makes a lot of sense; however they have categorically stated that not all videos will be available for usage without internet right now. You can pick the right ones by tapping on the 'offline' button available only on videos that offer offline-viewing support right now. Domestic music brands like T-Series, Saregama and Yashraj Films are the first ones to join the line up with many more expected in the coming months.

Offline mode was first talked up by Google India representatives at the Android One global launch event earlier this year. They had promised a year-end time frame for the feature's introduction and managed to stick by the same. YouTube can be a high data-grossing product for anyone on the web which is why the existence of offline mode helps consumers, lower down their phone's data bills.
