Six Sigma vital for total quality management

The statistics department of Maris Stella College organised a statistics meet, ‘Sankhy-2K15’, on Friday.Speaking at the meet, GVSR Anjaneyulu, statistics department head of Acharya Nagarjuna University, explained about Six Sigma and its applications for total quality management. “It is a recent attempt to combine all elements of quality into one system.

Every organisation should have a quality improvement circle to achieve perfection and growth. Each Six Sigma project of an organisation follows different sequence of steps and quantitative targets,” he said.

Quiz, treasure hunt, paper and poster presentation competitions were held for students as part of the meet. Students of St Teresa Degree College of Eluru got first place in paper presentation, followed by Vignan Degree College of Guntur and CRR College for Women of Eluru in second and third places respectively.

In the poster presentation competition, students of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala stood first, followed by Andhra Loyola College and CRR College for Women.College principal Sr C Rekha Mudarta gave away prizes to winners of the various competitions.
