Peace award to be bestowed on 2 Nellore advocates.Two senior advocates from Nellore, V Anantha Ramaiah and V V Narasimha Charyulu, would receive the Katragadda Gangaiah Memorial Peace Award on April 4.

K Subba Raju addressing newsmen on Tuesday Two senior advocates from Nellore, V Anantha Ramaiah and V V Narasimha Charyulu, would receive the Katragadda Gangaiah Memorial Peace Award on April 4. “The two advocates were selected to receive the peace award for 2013-14,” said the award committee secretary and former legislator K Subba Raju.The award was constituted by the family members of Katragadda Gangaiah, a goldsmith from Vijayawada, who worked all through his life to promote peace across the world. He was known for his initiatives to promote peace among people, states, races and nations and during his life he had honoured several persons who were known for their contribution to promote peace in the world.

The award was earlier presented to Global Peace Association president Ramesh Chandra, freedom fighters Vemulapalli Srikrishna, Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah, Somuri Venkatramaiah, Acharya Nagarjuna University former vice-chancellor Dr K Rajaramohana Rao, poet Dr C Narayana Reddy, industrialist Chukkapalli Pitchaiah, journalist C Raghavachari, social workers Ponnam Veera Raghavaiah, N Manga Devi, Paruchuri Hanumantha Rao, Gudavalli Nageswara Rao, Kakaraparti Venkateswarlu, Jonna Narendra Dev and Thummala Venkatramaiah, cartoonist T Venkatrao and writer R Venkateswara Rao.

Subba Raju said that the award committee would identify people engaged in campaigning for the global peace. The award includes a gold medal and the meeting promotes peace in the world and campaigns against wars and violence.The award committee members Mohboob Azam, Pujari Durga Rao and Katragadda Murali were also present at the meeting.
