Vasanta Navaratrotsavam begins today

The Vasanta Navaratrotsavam will begin at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri today and will go on till March 28. The Chaitra Masa Kalyana Brahmotsavams, which began on Friday, will go on till April 3.Durga temple executive officer Ch Narsing Rao said, “Ugadi celebrations would begin with snapanabhishekam at 3 am on Saturday.

Panchanga sravanam would be held at Bhavani Mandapam at 10 am on the occasion of Telugu New Year. Rathotsavam would be organised from Brahmin Street at 5.30 pm as part of the Navaratrotsavam. The chariot procession would reach Indrakeeladri after covering Kaleswara Rao Market, Ganesh temple and other main streets of One Town.”

A special pushparchana to Goddess Kanaka Durga will be performed till March 28. Different varieties of flowers will be used every day, which will be held at Asirvachana Mandapam at 9 am. Devotees can take part in the special puja on purchase of the Rs 1,116 ticket. Sesha vastram, a blouse piece, five laddus and five pulihora packets will be presented as prasadam.

The devasthanam will perform the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita at Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy temple near Ghat Road on March 28 on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami. Sri Rama Pattabhishekam and Maha Purnahuthi will be held on March 29.

The five-day Chaitra Masa Kalyana Brahmotsavams will begin at the temple with Mangala Snanam ritual on March 30. The festivities will conclude with Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Kalyanam.Santhi kalyanam, durbar seva, vuyyala seva, pallaki seva, chandi homam and laksha kumkumarchana will be performed as part of the temple fete.
