Bajaj unveils the Pulsar 200RS; priced at Rs 1.18 lakh onwards
Since its launch in 2001 the Bajaj Pulsar has created, defined and expanded the sports motorcycle market in India. Today Pulsar sells more than 55,000 units every month in the domestic sports motorcycle market with a leadership market share of 43 per cent making it India’s no.1 Sports bike for 14 years in a row.
Bajaj Auto on Thursday unveiled the new Pulsar RS200 priced at Rs 1.18 lakh for the non-ABS variant and at Rs 1.30 lakh for the ABS variant.The bike looks like a super sports bike Indian youth would love to ride on. Once astride, the HD focus twin projector headlights tame the darkest roads with devil’s eyes. The high intensity crystal LED tail lamp mesmerizes other riders that it leaves behind.
The engine is similar to the existing 200NS and gets the same 4-valve Triple Spark DTSi Engine, but with Fuel Injection and Liquid Cooling. The bike gets a 300mm disc brakes with ABS and has a throaty midship race spec exhaust which makes a sound unlike any Pulsars of the decades.
The motorcycle is powered by a 199.5 cc 4-valve triple-spark DTSi engine with fuel injection. It outputs 24.5 PS at 9,750 rpm and 18.6 Nm at 8,000 rpm, and has a top speed of 141 km/h. The motorcycle measures 1,999 mm long, 765 mm wide, 1,114 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 1,355 mm. Its ground clearance stands at 157 mm and its kerb weight is at 165 kg.
Speaking on the launch Eric Vas, President - Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “The Sports segment in India is poised for rapid growth driven by evolving customer preferences. There is a large number consumers who expect true track performance from their bikes.
The new Pulsar RS 200 now enters the Super Sports segment with aerodynamically tested fairings, superior chassis and engine technology to deliver adrenaline pumping performance be it on tracks or real roads.”He added, “We are already market and image leaders by far in the sports segment and with the launch of Pulsar RS 200 look forward to gaining leadership in the Super Sports segment as well.”
