Isuzu Motors started its Indian journey in 2013 with its premium SUV - the MU-7 - but the vehicle failed to generate volumes for the company. And that is probably because of the company's limited presence. Therefore, the company is now aiming to expand its dealership network along with launching new products. One such product could be the MU-X that the company has recently imported for research & development (R&D) purpose.
If the company decides to launch the MU-X in India, it will be positioned above the MU-7 in the line-up. At a higher price point than the MU-7, the Isuzu MU-X will directly take on the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Compared to the MU-7, the MU-X certainly looks more contemporary with a large twin-slat grille, high ground clearance and more modern head-lamps.
The 7-seater SUV also offers several high-end features such as automatic climate control, AC vents for rear occupants, cruise control, height adjustable driver seat, ABS with EBD, brake assist, terrain management system and few others.
Powering the vehicle is a 2.5-litre diesel powertrain that, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, produces 134bhp and 320Nm. Though the company hasn't officially said anything about the product, we expect it to be showcased at the 2015 Delhi Auto Expo.
