Talented disciples delight dance gurus. The fifth anniversary of Balanandam, a children’s dance forum was celebrated with gaiety at the Siva Rama Krishna Kshetram on Wednesday.

The fifth anniversary of Balanandam, a children’s dance forum was celebrated with gaiety at the Siva Rama Krishna Kshetram on Wednesday. The celebrations were jointly organised by the Telugu Artistes Federation and Amma Arts and Cultural Academy. The venue looked colourful with many students participating in the World Dance Day celebrations in their dance costumes.

Rich tributes were paid to legendary dance gurus Bhagavatula Yagnanarayana Sarma, Jyothula Seetarama Sastry and Anand Pillai to mark the occasion. MD Giri, a disciple of the three legends, was honoured. Later, disciples of eminent dance teachers gave performances showcasing their talent.

Disciples of Chadalavada Anand Saisree presented Tarigonda Vengamamba’s composition `Ganapathi Tatvam’ and ‘Brahmanjali’. ‘Pravesa Daruvu’ of ‘Bhamakalapam’ and ‘Idigo Bhadradri’ dance items. Ghantasala Pavankumar’s disciples staged ‘Ramayana Shabdam’ and ‘Krishna Shabdam’.

‘Jayamu Jayamu Lalitha Kala Vahini’ and `Narayana Achyuta’ were rendered by disciples of Sappa Sivakumar Jayalakshmi. Disciples of P Hemanth Kumar performed ‘Tarangam’ composed by Narayana Teertha and Annamacharya’s composition ‘Itanikante Mari Daivamu Kaanamu’. M D Giri’s disciples depicted ‘Dasavatara Shabdam’. Later, dance teachers were felicitated.
