HC green signals repair works at Hussainsagar
The Vacation Bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice Nooty Ram Mohan Rao and Justice MSK Jaiswal on Thursday directed the GHMC to go ahead with the repair works of the sluice drain system of the Tank Bund. The bench was dealing with an appeal filed by the GHMC against orders of the green tribunal asking it to stop all works

The bench was dealing with an appeal filed by the GHMC against orders of the green tribunal asking it to stop all works on the Hussain Sagar Lake.
Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL) approached the green tribunal alleging that draining out the water from Hussainsagar Lake and diverting the inflows from Kukatpally nala without treatment were dangerous to the environment. The tribunal had granted stay on the matter. Aggrieved by the order of the tribunal an appeal was filed.

Telangana Advocate General K Ramakrishna Reddy informed the court that the GHMC was not emptying the lake as alleged but was only conducting repair works to the sluice drain system. After hearing arguments, the bench lifted the stay of the tribunal.
