To highlight the importance of routine immunisation and use of pentavalent vaccine for infants, Hyderabad Collector conducted the taskforce committee meeting on Friday. “Pentavalent vaccine is five individual vaccines conjugated in one which is intended to protect infants from five deadly diseases like Haemophilus Influenza type B, whooping cough, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Diphtheria.

Anganwadi workers and other concerned agencies should propagate the benefits and usage of these medicines for infants,” said Nirmala. Dr Venkateswar Rao, district medical and health officer, said, “The medicine should be administered to infants in three doses during the 6th, 10th and 14th week. Before that Hepatitis B vaccination should be given within 24 hours of the birth of child.”
