Forget the blabber where is the wifi?!

The WiFi facility which was thrown open at Secunderabad Railway Station on Tuesday promised to give a fillip to ‘Brand Hyderabad’. But similar facilities launched with much fanfare at other areas in the city earlier seems more like a farce and has left the denizens disappointed.

Techies Raghuram Naik, Prasun Banerjee and Lalitha Naik try to use the WiFi at Hitec City every single day but return to their cubicles disappointed. Ever since the facility was launched at Hitec City in October last year in an 8 km radius with 17 router centres, the facility though leaves is much to be desired.

It was to cater to about 20,000 people but no one gets to use it full-fledged. Raghuram says, “It gets cut just after five minutes. We keep trying but our break time gets wasted in the effort to reconnect.” At Tank Bund the facility was started in a 10 km radius at Necklace Road, Peoples Plaza, Eat Street and in the vicinity but people complain of non-availability.

Shapoor, a morning walker, says, “I tried several times but was successful only once.”At Tank Bund there are 40 hotspots and at each hotspot about 500 people should be able to use it said an IT department official. Sreya, a call centre employee, says, “We get the facility but intermittently. The authorities need to fix the problem.”
