The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project is progressing at a brisk pace as 19 properties were demolished in the last two weeks. In a significant development, 11 quarters in old Gandhi Hospital were also demolished paving the way for HMR to start construction of ‘Sainik Aramgarh’ in two acres of old Gandhi Hospital in exchange of two acres given by Defence authorities in Secunderabad for construction of Parade Ground Metro interchange station.

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma conducted a Special Task Force (STF) meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of the Metro Rail project. Six properties in Ameerpet junction were cleared paving the way for Ameerpet interchange station; five properties in Nampally area would enable taking up pillar construction for Nampally Metro station; an apartment complex ‘Sriveni Towers’ in Madhura Nagar; and six properties in Krishna Nagar also were demolished informed N V S Reddy, MD, HMR.


Principal Secretary, Revenue BR Meena; Secretary, Home B. Venkatesham; Secretary, Legal Affair, Santosh Reddy; Secretary, Finance, Shiva Shankar; Collector (Hyderabad) Nirmala; Collector (Ranga Reddy) Raghunandan Rao; Addl. Commissioner of Police Traffic (Hyderabad) Jitender; DCP Traffic (Cyberabad) Avinash Mohanty; CEO & MD L&TMRHL VB Gadgil and other senior officials and engineers of all utility organisations of Government of Telangana, HMR and L&TMRHL participated in the meeting.
