Dr Pradip Paik, assistant professor, School of Engineering Sciences and Technology, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been invited as a visiting scientist by the Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials and department of Chemistry, Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

Bar-Ilan’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (BINA) boasts of 40 cutting-edge laboratories as well as state-of-the art ‘Scientific Service’. Prof. Yitzak Mastai, head of the department of chemistry, BINA, has invited Dr Paik for collaboration research work focused on the development of functional (self-assembled, chiral, porous, etc) nano particles and nano capsules based system useful for bio-sensing and medical biotechnology (drug delivery, cancer therapy etc).

Dr. Paik is already in Israel and will be spending two months with Prof. Mastai’s research group. Dr Paik has been awarded B.Sc. (Chemistry Hons.) from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur followed by B.Tech in Chemical Technology (University of Calcutta), M. Tech. and Ph.D. degree in Materials Science (Research on Nano scale polymer particles) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Later Dr. Paik moved to National University of Singapore (NUS) (Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering, Division of Bioengineering) and worked for almost three years as a post doctoral fellow in the field of functional nano materials for chiral sensing and memory, enantio-selective separation of drugs, drug and gene delivery for cancer therapy etc..

Dr. Paik is a recipient of Young Scientist Award by the Indian Science Congress Association and awarded by various other awards for his research activities in nanotechnology. Dr. Pradip Paik’s present research group at UoH consists of 12 research scholars (including Ph.D, M. Tech and Project fellows) and his research group is presently designing nano materials for the Biomedical (nano medicine, drug and gene delivery, gene therapy, cancer therapy, nano-immunology, etc.) applications and all are with nanotechnology approach.
