Butchi Babu’s centenary begins. Centenary celebrations of Sivaraju Venkata Subba Rao, popularly known as Butchi Babu, started at the Cultural Center of Vijayawada on Sunday.

Centenary celebrations of Sivaraju Venkata Subba Rao, popularly known as Butchi Babu, started at the Cultural Center of Vijayawada on Sunday. Speaking at the celebrations organised by cultural organisation Sahiti Murthulu, Kommana Radhakrishna said that the style of Butchi Babu is different and stressed that his novel ‘Chivaraku Migiledi’ was very popular among Telugu readers.

He also added that Butchi Babu was equally capable in English literature. Seetaram spoke about Butchi Babu and said that he attempted all sections in Telugu literature like novels, short stories, essays, radio plays. Noted writer Bhamidipati Jagannatha Rao gave an impressive lecture on Butchi Babu and his writings.

He said that Butchi Babu had a different style of presentation which could be seen in all his writings. “Butchi Babu’s novels reflect the society and he never compromised while criticising any problem. His writings will make readers think on issues raised by him in every book,” he added.
