“Besides these programmes, others include presentation of special lectures on yoga and its relevance,” said Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu.He said the practice of yoga would bring peace of mind, reduce stress, improve health and bring people together.


Chief Minister N Rangasamy would set in motion the celebrations, he said. The idea of celebrating International Yoga day was formally proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his maiden address at the 69th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations on September 27 last year.
