Students of a well known Bharatanatyam Guru Anita Guha from Chennai performed items on Lord Subramaniam, Goddess Andal and sang Annamacharya Kirtanas. Posing together, they formed groups depicting Lord Subramaniam with his vahana the peacock.

The ball playing by Andal and her friends was a triumph of choreography as was the piece on the Lord of the Seven Hills followed by a short tillana. Medha Hari stoodout amongst the students. The ancient and disappearing ‘Chindu Bhagvatham’ in what might very well be the last group presenting this Telangana Art form showed us the story of Chenchu Lakshmi.

The second day started with a brilliant Kathak performance by Guru Nandini Mehta and her students from Bengaluru. Tulsidas bhajan ‘Sri Ramachandra Kripalu‘ by the students in colourful costumes was outstanding, an Abhinaya piece by Nandini displayed her exquisite skill.

Veteran Bharatanatyam artiste CV Chandrasekhar was the conferred lifetime achievement award at the event. The presence of one of our most popular Bharatanatyam artistes Rajeswari Sainath added luster to the occasion. Lastly an athletic display of Mayurbhanj Chhau rounded off the festival. Kishan Rao has to be thanked for providing the facilities at Shilparamam free of cost to organisers and artistes.
