The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a bandh across schools in Telangana on Tuesday demanding the government to implementation the Right to Education (RTE) Act in the State. The ABVP said that as per the RTE Act, the government should implement 25 per cent reservation for children belonging to economically poor backgrounds in private schools.

ABVP state secretary Niranjan and ABVP city secretary P Venkat Reddy on Monday demanded the government to announce the guidelines for implementation of KG to PG Free Education in the State and appointment a fee regulatory authority to check exorbitant fees being charged by private schools.

“In a protest against government’s apathy over several issues, we have called for bandh,” said Niranjan. They further demanded the government to fill up vacancies of teachers, deputy DEOs and MEOs. “The government should allot two teachers for every government upper primary school,” Niranjan said.

The ABVP wants the government to crackdown unrecognised schools and also remove fancy tags (techno, e-techno, digi) from the private schools nameplates. “The government should adopt one school with one name only,” Niranjan concluded.
