The horticulture division at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) started the University Greening Programme to increase the tree stock on the campus by planting at least 5,000 trees in this year. As part of this massive programme, the horticultural division, under the leadership of Professor Attipalli R Reddy from the Department of Plant Sciences, started the programme on Wednesday in and around the School of Life Sciences building by planting several trees by involving the faculty, non-teaching staff and students of different departments in the school.


Dr C Rangarajan, the Chancellor of the University, inaugurated the plantation programme by planting a Royal Palm tree. In the next phase, the entire faculty, staff, research scholars as well as students will be involved in the Haritha Haaram program initiated by the State Government.
