Have you heard about shared parenting? It’s a responsibility of parents after their relationship comes to an end. Every father wants to spend some time with his child, although this is not practical after the couple’s divorce. In most cases, children’s care is left to mothers.

This affects the child-father relationship. On Sunday, a Non Governmental Organisation CRISP (Children’s Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting) in association with SIF-APTS (Save Indian Family Group) will promote awareness on the concept.

“Due to a couple’s ego problems that end up in divorce, children suffer due to single parenting. We believe in shared parenting. That’s why we started CRISP in Bangalore in 2008. Now we have 9,000 members across India who are striving for children’s rights. Both the parents have equal rights on children, but fathers are usually avoided after divorce,” said Kumar Jahgirdar, national president of CRISP.

Earlier, CRISP has organised various competitions like painting, dancing, essay writing, music and quiz for children of different schools in the city last Sunday. Prizes for these competitions will be given away on Sunday by Justice Chandra Kumar and Justice Challa Kodanda Ram at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium in Public Gardens.
