Contract nurses on strike from today

Nurses, who are employed on a contract basis at various hospitals in the city, will go on an indefinite strike from today. The nurses want their services to be regularised and salary be paid as per the recommendations of the pay revision commission.

There are more than 500 nurses working in the city at various hospitals on a contract basis who are paid a salary of Rs 12,000 per month. Of the 500, 210 are from Gandhi, 29 from Nilofour, 2 from King Koti, 50 from ESI Sanathnagar, 25 from Fever Hospital and the rest from other government hospitals.
