The Forest Department will celebrate 'Vanamahotsavam Day' with a large scale tree plantation on July 17. Many political leaders, panchayats, students and NGOs are to take part in the celebration. On the day, 66,000 plants will be planted in every Assembly constituency. NGO's, schools and all educational institutions are being involved in the project.

Aerial seedlings by a chartered helicopter would be undertaken in the entire district covering all reserve forest ranges. In CRDA capital region alone. 10 reserve forest ranges will be covered to create a green canopy as part of the master plan implementation. Mangalagiri, Undavalli, Mothadaka, Nidumukkala and Kondaveedu forest ranges would get special attention to increase green cover.

District Forest Officer K.Lohitasyudu in a note to the press said that quality plants measuring 2 metres and more are being procured from Kadiyam Nurseries in Rajahmundry. The entire department range officers are all set for the massive green show. Follow-up plan of action for the survival of plants also forms part of the major initiative of the department.
