Top sailors in action for Laser Championship
A distinctly bigger and more exciting 30th Laser Sailing Championship-2015 got off of a colourful start with the Telangana State Finance Minister Etela Rajender inaugurating the championship, being held as part of the Hyderabad Sailing Week at Secunderabad Club Sailing Annexe here on Wednesday.

To have competitions in three variants of Laser Rig-Laser Standard, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7, it has attracted the participation of 153 sailors, including 17 women, according to Lt Gen Gurmukh Singh, SM, VSM, President Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) and Commodore EME Sailing Association,
Overall, the Week will see the top contenders vying for honours including AYN, TNSA, RBYC, NSS Bhopal, Secunderabad Sailing Club, EMESA, EMESC, CESC, NDA Sailing Club, RMYC, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala, Yacht Club of Hyderabad (YCH) and Muzris Yachting Club (MZYC), Kochi.
The crème de la crème will be the Late Lt Cdr Kelly S Rao Trophy to the Laser Standard Fleet topper without discards. Meanwhile, shuttler Jwala Gutta will give away prizes on Thursday while Sania Mirza will do the honours the next day. The event concludes on July 19.
