A golden memory!
A cherished memory of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam when he visited St. Francis Degree College to inaugurate a yearlong Golden Jubilee Celebrations on August 2, 2008 was recollected by its management. As Sister Alphonsa, Principal of the college recollected: “The very air around the packed college campus crackled with excitement as we welcomed our beloved former President.

His speech was straight from the heart as he spoke about the three components that filled the coffers of knowledge - creativity, righteousness & courage. "Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, righteous thinking provides knowledge & knowledge makes you great when coupled with courage, which is the unique quality of youth" he said.

He encouraged students to follow their dreams & emphasised that when women are empowered, societal harmony is ensured. His genial smile through his patient rinteraction with students & as he shook a hundred hands endeared him to everyone present there.
The college pays tribute to this great teacher, scientist & visionary & renews its commitment to all those values which he firmly stood for. His positive spirit, humility, love & regard for the country are what we all should emulate. RIP Dr. Kalam!”
