In continuation of the celebrations for International Tiger Day, Kalakriti Art Gallery is hosting an art exhibition to raise awareness on tiger conservation. The exhibition is called ‘Save Sher’ by Kauser Qureshi. She is a city-based artist. Holding BFA in Paintings from JNTU College of Fine Arts and MFA in paintings from University of Hertfordshire, her work always reflects the dark, bold and humorous element with a kinky edge often exploring the juxtaposition between dark and beautiful subjects to create the surreal.

She has displayed her works in various group exhibitions like live art for Porsche, Indus Pride, Blenders Pride and Hyderabad by Absolut to name a few. An ode to the tiger, sketched with brilliant colours and combined with sobering graphic black and white images with hints of orange and red charcoals showcases the different shades of the magnificent carnivore- The Tiger.

Talking about tigers, Kauser says, “I have been loving tigers since my childhood and I think this animal is fascinating. I am a cat lover and tiger is the biggest of all cats. I really want to save the tiger and I am associated with the wildlife conservation society. The proceeds from the exhibition will go to the society.”

As few as 3,200 tigers exist in the world today. India holds over half of the world’s tiger population which stands at 70 per cent. The 32-year-old artist says that nothing is impossible without family support. “My family is very supportive, I am thankful to my parents who allowed me to do Fine Arts and even after my marriage my in-laws and husband are very supportive,” says Kauser.

Kauser is proud that she is an artist. “People think that if you can’t do anything you can join Fine Arts but that is wrong. Nothing is easy in this world. Even if you want to become an artist, you should work hard,” shares Kauser. The exhibition will be on till August 6 at Kalakriti Art Gallery from 11am to 7pm.
