He spoke to media personnel son after taking a trip in an MMTS train from Secunderabad to Lingampally. This was the first time that the general manager took a MMTS train to take stock of the facilities.

The general manager interacted with passengers of three different coaches. Most passengers complained about lack of seats. The general manager said that mass transit systems were designed to carry more number of passengers with minimum seating. He however added that it was a design issue and would be looked into.

Briefing presspersons at Lingampally station, he said that lady passengers had complained about unruly male passengers. Expressing his displeasure at this phenomenon, Gupta asked officers to take extra care and ensure that such instances do not recur.

The senior officer said that he was also surprised to find out the relatively-low levels of awareness among women passengers about the SCR-developed Android app, ‘RISSTA’ (Railway Interactive Security Solutions for Travellers Assistance). In contrast, he said the ‘HYLITES’ app (Hyderabad Live Train Enquiry System), another in-house product was more popularly used as a one-stop solution for their train-related enquiries.

SCR to increase ATVMs

With good response to the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), the SCR is planning to increase the number of ATVMs in different stations. Currently, there is a machine at Lingampally that disburses 800 tickets a day, he said, adding that there were 14 each at Secunderabad and Kacheguda that printed out about 7,000 to 8,000 tickets a day.

With regard to Lingampally Railway Station, Ravindra Gupta said that the construction of Cover Over Platform on Platform No.04, being undertaken presently will be suitably redrawn to extend till the new Foot Over Bridge.
