Sony has announced the specs of their virtual reality baby for the PS4, the PlayStation VR, originally known as Project Morpheus. The device is expected to be available sometime in 2016. The PlayStation VR has a 5.7-inch OLED display with 1920x1080 resolution (that's 960x1080 for each eye) at a 120Hz refresh rate with a latency of under 18ms.

It has an (approximately) 100-degree field of view, an accelerometer and gyroscope, as well as nine LEDs for head tracking. The device has 3D audio, with a stereo mini jack and mic input, and both HDMI and USB interfaces. But a cool addition is what the company is calling the "social" aspect of the PlayStation VR.

To make sure friends on your couch aren't left out in the cold once you're plugged in, gameplay is output to both the VR headset as well as the TV the console is connected to. The trailer linked below mentions a launch in the first half of 2016, but we still don't have a specific release date or price tag for the device.
